about.

Georg Loewit was born in Innsbruck in 1959. He grew up in Innsbruck, Vienna and New York.

After graduating from the technical school for wood and stone sculptors in Innsbruck, he also completed the apprenticeship for decorative metalworker and goldsmith in Walter Deussl’s workshop in Innsbruck.

Studies at the Academy of Visual Arts in Munich at professor Lohwasser and professor Jünger supplemented his artistic education, which he completed with the master sculptor exam. Studies of art education at the University Mozarteum in Salzburg followed.

As a board member and long-term managing director of the Tyrolean artists, Georg Loewit put an important emphasis on the domestic art scene from 1986 to 1996, like for instance with establishing the art house Büchsenhausen.

In 1998 he was the founding curator of the newly constituted RLB-Kunstbrücke, which he artistically led until 2002. In 2001 he founded the RLB atelier in Lienz, the exhibition programme of which was curated by him until 2012.

Georg Loewit lives and works in Innsbruck. His works are represented in important collections and have been shown in over 100 national and international exhibitions.
